Jewellery care

Silver jewellery stays the most beautiful when worn regularly. Everyday wear keeps the metal polished and clean naturally. If kept away for a long time, silver tends to oxidise, leaving a dull and dark gray tone. Find yourself a small polishing cloth or take it in to the nearest goldsmith to ask them kindly if they can dip clean your jewellery for you.

It is also good practice to check gem settings annually to ensure that your diamonds and gemstones are secure and in good condition. We are always happy to do this for you, if we are in your area, free of charge. If you are based elsewhere, visit a trusted local jeweller to have your jewellery cleaned and stones checked professionally.

If you wear perfume, always spray and let dry before you put your jewellery on. Most stones, and especially pearls, are affected by chemicals. And silver might tarnish easier. Same goes for swimming in chlorine pools, always take your jewellery off.

Silver and gold can take a shower and a dip in the ocean. A necklace strung on silk thread can not. The silk will quickly loosen and fray.

If in doubt, send a message to ask!
